Keelys LLP is strengthening its senior team with the appointment of a new head of Insolvency and the promotion to partner of an employment law specialist at its Lichfield head office. Two of its key London staff have also been promoted.

Paul Harris is appointed head of Insolvency at Lichfield and employment law specialist Ravinder Sandhu is promoted to partner and becomes just the third ‘home grown’ partner within the history of the firm.

Paul was national head of insolvency at Irwin Mitchell before setting up his own professional training company for accountants and lawyers for 10 years. He also held a number of consultancy posts where he developed a specialism in advising professional football clubs that were in financial difficulties. Within his general practice, Paul has particular expertise in Directors Disqualification work and has acted on behalf of a number of high profile individuals. He is a past Midlands Chairman of R3 (the Association of Business Recovery Professionals), the trade association for all accountants and solicitors specialising in insolvency.

At Keelys Paul will be dealing with all aspects of corporate and personal insolvency work including corporate restructuring and reorganisation within the firm’s Corporate division. Commenting on his new position with Keelys he says:

"I have always respected Keelys as a firm and am very impressed with the partners for both their pragmatic approach to legal work and their sense of entrepreneurialism. I also believe I have all the support I need within the firm, from the various disciplines available and am confident that the geographical fit of my client base is exactly right for our Lichfield location."

Paul was born in Birmingham and undertook his law degree in the city. He now lives between Sutton Coldfield and Lichfield and has two grown up children.

Keelys is also celebrating the promotion of Ravinder Sandhu. She becomes only the third "home grown" partner firm following in the footsteps of finance partner Sharon Lawrence and corporate partner Hitesh Punjani. Ravinder joined Keelys as a trainee in 2001 and was promoted to associate partner in May 2008. She has played a significant role in the rapid growth of the Employment Group which has doubled its turnover in the last three years. She has been instrumental in the success of the firm’s Employment Health Check Plan and holds down a sizeable portfolio of clients. She has a particularly impressive track record in winning work and client retention.

Managing partner, Daniel Keane says he is delighted to be able to announce this appointment and promotion and comments:

"At a time when many law firms are downsizing we are glad to be bucking the trend and are in the favourable position of being able to appoint very high calibre professionals as well as retain and promote from our pool of extremely talented senior people. The partners at Keelys are pleased that the very top level of the firm has been further strengthened by these moves and that we are well equipped to deal with the levels in business growth we have been experiencing and predict will continue."

Promotions have also taken place at Keelys’ Cost Litigation Centre in central London. Simon Murray becomes a full equity partner and Robin Dunne is promoted to partner.
