As is often the case at this time of the year, people reflect on the year gone by, but also look to see what the new year will have in store.
It is the case for both home life and business, and the world of property is one which interests people more than most.
So, here at Keelys, and being well-known in Lichfield and the region for helping many people move home, we would like to offer our thoughts on the property market for the year ahead.
We are cautiously optimistic about the outlook for property in 2018 as, amongst other things, the tax break in stamp duty being abolished for first time buyers, is bound to have a positive effect in helping many first time buyers step onto the ladder.
Of course, the buy-to-let market has faced tougher taxes and mortgage affordability criteria in 2017, but the consensus amongst many involved in property that we spoke to is that most landlords will stick with their property portfolios.
Needless to say, however, the uncertainty around Brexit will continue to cast a shadow over the UK for some while yet. The negotiations will continue and the politics and counter politics will ensure that political commentators will have no shortage of material as we all watch on.
However, extrapolating the UK from the EU appears to be an incredibly slow process, which will take some time yet before agreements are made. We have to hope that confidence remains and that our leaders can do this in a way that will see us in good shape beyond our exit.
At a time for predictions, what we can say with certainty though is that the property market remains a hugely fascinating topic, not just for those in Lichfield, but all over the UK.
We hope 2018 will be a good year for property moves, and if during the months ahead you are thinking of moving onto pastures new, please remember to call the highly experienced conveyancing team at Keelys for help and advice. We would be delighted to help.
We can help you negotiate your move in full confidence that the legal side of the transaction has been taken care of to the highest standards.
